ITALIAN TECH in INDIA: Italian Know-How for India’s Energy Transition and Manufacturing Growth

The Embassy of Italy in New Delhi, the Consulate General of Italy in Mumbai, and the IICCI – Indo-Italian Chamber of Commerce and Industry are proud to announce the successful conclusion of the “ITALIAN TECH in INDIA” exhibition. The initiative was a one-of-a-kind platform and a world-premiere, that showcased a selection of Italian technologies and innovations manufactured in India across 4 sectors, including Automotive and Auto- components, Machinery and Manufacturing, Agri and Food Technologies, Engineering, Infrastructure, Building and Constructions. The show was supported by Axis Bank, partnered by Machine Maker and it brought together Italian and Indian companies to explore potential collaborations and partnerships.

The exhibition aimed to highlight the significant contribution of Italian know-how to India’s economic and technological growth in terms of investment, job creations, innovation, technological advancement, and skill development. The event featured activities, seminars, and round tables with high-level representatives from both Italian and Indian institutions and associations. Visitors had the chance to see the latest technologies and innovations in action and meet with industry experts and leaders.

The event took place at the Embassy of Italy in New Delhi from Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th March 2023 was inaugurated by Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation – Antonio Tajani, and India’s Minister of Commerce and Industry – Piyush Goyal along with Ambassador of Italy in India – Vincenzo de Luca, IICCI President – Amit Roy and CEO and Secretary General of IICCI – Claudio Maffioletti and at the Auto Cluster Exhibition Center in Pune from Friday 17th to Sunday 19th March 2023 was inaugurated by Consul General of Italy in Mumbai – Alessandro De Masi, Joint Director, Industries – Government of Maharashtra – Sadashiv Survase, Head of Treasury, Markets and Sales, AXIS Bank – Brejesh Chalill, IICCI President – Amit Roy and CEO and Secretary General of IICCI – Claudio Maffioletti.

The 17 exhibiting Italian companies included Bauli India Bakes & Sweets, Bettinelli, Biesse Manufacturing, Bonfiglioli Transmissions, Brembo, Coesia India, Enel Green Power India, FAAC India, Fontana Gruppo, Maccaferri Environmental Solutions, Maire Tecnimont, Mapei Construction Products India, Marelli (India), Marposs India, MGM Varvel, Piaggio Vehicles, Same Deutz-Fahr India, while the 9 participating Italian companies were Bellissimo – Panariagroup India Industrie Ceramiche Pvt. Ltd., Carraro, Danieli India, Ferrero, Green Gear Trasmissioni, Guala Closures India, Italferr, OMR Bagla Automotive Systems India, and Saleri India.

The exhibition successfully promoted greater cooperation between Italy and India in the manufacturing sector, providing a unique opportunity for Italian companies to showcase their capabilities and for Indian companies to explore potential collaborations and partnerships. The path forward is to work with various European stakeholders to increase awareness and support the market penetration of advanced manufacturing, Industry 4.0, and Artificial Intelligence in India.

The show attracted a diverse range of visitors from various industries and sectors. The event saw a significant turnout of around 57 companies, 780 professionals, 393 students, 17 media, interested in exploring the latest Italian technologies and innovations in the manufacturing sector. The visitor database included top-level executives, decision-makers, and industry experts from companies across India. The exhibition provided an ideal platform for networking, learning, and exploring new business opportunities.

On 17th March a panel discussion titled “Shared experiences by Italian companies in India” an highly informative session featuring 7 distinguished speakers. The session saw participation from over 85 attendees, including industry professionals, experts, and students, who gained valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by Italian companies in India and other Panel discussion on 18th March on “What Competences Needed Today in the Global Manufacturing Sector?”. The panel featured 6 prominent speakers in the educational industry and shed light on the topic for 70 attendees.

IICCI thanks all the exhibitors, visitors, and stakeholders for their participation and support in making this event a grand success, looking forward to next year’s edition of the exhibition in Bangalore.
